Sensory Membrane Protein Lab

At the Sensory Membrane Protein (SMP) lab, we study how certain membrane proteins, like mechanosensitive ion channels, motor proteins, and transporters, help our bodies sense the world. These proteins play key roles in touch, pain, and hearing, and they are also involved in cancer progression. We aim to discover how these proteins are built, how they function, and how their dysfunction can lead to conditions like deafness and cancer.

If you're curious about how sensory processes work at the molecular level, especially mechanosensation, we invite you to join our team. We’re committed to creating a diverse and welcoming environment for all.
