Sensory Membrane Protein Lab
At the Sensory Membrane Protein (SMP) Lab, we investigate how membrane proteins such as mechanosensitive ion channels, motor proteins, and transporters enable the body to sense and respond to the physical world. These proteins are essential for processes like touch, hearing, pain sensation, and blood pressure regulation, and are increasingly linked to cancer progression. Our research focuses on understanding how these proteins are structured, how they function under mechanical and electrical forces, and how their dysfunction contributes to disorders such as deafness, hypertension, and cancer.
If you're curious about how sensory processes work at the molecular level, especially mechanosensation, we invite you to join our team. We’re committed to creating a diverse and welcoming environment for all.
